About Us

Casa della Capra was founded in 2019 by a Brazilian-Italian couple who are particularly keen on sharing their passion for Art, Bicycles and Cuisine through exciting experiences. Art Workshops, Bike Tours and Cooking classes are offered throu- ghout spring, summer and autumn, upon request or following a vibrant events calendar that gets renewed every season.

Come alone, as a couple, with friends or family. Here you can become part of a community, connecting to practice sports, to be creative, to share food, to learn, to support each other and have lots of fun together.

SUSTAINABILITY

It's in how we built the house, it's in sustainable mobility, In how we prioritise seasonal, territorial cuisine, in the reduced use of plastic. It's in the cultural programs and collaborations with the community.

By staying with us and recommending us to your friends you are helping us to keep investing in sustainability and setting an example for others to prove sustainable tourism is the future. We made a list of checkable sustainable mesures we have adopted. ENERGY EEFFICIENCY: Heat pump technology, double glazed windows, led lights, presence sensors, and magnetic cards in rooms. SUSTAINABLE MOBILITY: Rental bikes and e-bikes, electric vehicle charging. Parking, technical support and information for cyclists wanting to explore the area. MOTOR FREE LAKE: SUp Paddle and Kayak for guests. LOCAL COLLABORATIONS: Access to local guides and outdoor activity companies. Visits to local producers by and tastings. FOOD WASTE: Food is produced on-demand in the restaurant to avoid food waste and have a hybrid buffet/a la carte system helping reduce waste on breakfast. PLASTIC USE: Reduced single use plastic from free toiletries/ use of dispensers for cosmetics and cleaning products! NO single use plastics such as cutlery, glasses and in our restaurant. FREE WATER REFILL and aromatic water from a dispenser for guests. REUSABLE BOTTLE can be brought or bought from reception. ECOLOGY: Most of our land is covered by green, including an orchard, aromatic garden and now a vegetable and medicinal garden, helping bees thrive too! WASTE: is sorted and sent to recycling centres. We make compost. COMMUNITY SUSTAINABILITY: promotion of local culture. contributing with the distribution of prosperity that comes from the tourism sector. PROMOTION AND SALE of local art and crafts by offering creative workshops with local artists, displaying their work around the house, selling them at the shop! La Capra Art festival: featuring collaborating artists once a year. SCAMBIO Art Residency: simultaneously promotes our territory abroad and the work of international emerging artists, which is created in response to the landscape generating awareness of the region. Support to local musicians, offering open live music events over summer. Promotion of local culture by keeping a small library with information on local legends, parks, historic places, archeology, geology, religious places, agriculture, museums and more. WE WANT MORE: We are looking forward to growing our bike fleet, creating an effcient network of local food suppliers and investing in solar pannels in the coming years. MEET THE FOUNDERS

Patricia

With a background in Architecture and a Fine Arts degree awarded in London in 2015, Patricia is responsible for the interior design and curation of the artworks around the house. This website and other graphic design works on social media were also made by her. She constantly promotes a creative environment in the house by offering Art Residencies and Workshops, collaborations with artists and designers. Parallel to the family business she keeps developing her practice, focusing in textile and botanic arts. Patricia is also interested in sustainability, healthy eating and mindfulness.

Patricia Orem e Felipe Giavina Bianchi

Felipe

A cook and cyclist, sometimes a gardener and a handyman. Felipe never stops. Years before Casa Della Capra he was already running Bike&Food tours, guiding groups through beautiful Italian landscapes and delicious food at its source. His passion for Italian cuisine dates back to childhood, but it was only after he finished a degree in Economics that he attended ICIF (cookery school) in southern Piedmont. Previous experiences include working on the food and beverage sector, hosting a TV cooking show and as a personal chef.

History

 

"Many of the trees still standing here today were planted by their patriarch, Mr Aldo, a Nature enthusiast and his wife, Giuliana. They also kept animals, such as chickens and a white Tibetan goat, Bianchina, known for being treated as part of the family and for its sassy behaviour, escaping across the road to the lake and visiting the neighbours."

1910 The oldest part of the house was built. This part of Mergozzo was called Pra Rosin.

 

1940's Just before World War II the house was pension and later a brothel.

 

1960's In the 60's, as the Braganti family bought the house. It is said they were greeted by the local priest, who came to bless the house and the family, relieved the mundane activities had ceased.

 

2019 Felipe and Patricia were just married when they found the house was for sale. They moved to Italy decided it was time to start building their dream. In the following years cthe house was converted into a sustainable, modern Boutique Guesthouse and Restaurant with dedicated areas for Art, Bike and Cooking activities.

2019  Casa della Capra opened its doors on the day of Easter, the 21st of April 2019.
